Behind the camera

Hi! I'm Melissa and I'm the photographer behind flying mermaid photography. I am a wife of an amazing man and the mother of an adorable little girl! I have always had a love for photography and pictures. When I was little I would take the disposable camera my mom would give me to take photos of dolls/family dog/siblings/friends. Then I got a digital camera from my parents and I was in heaven! Since then I just used a digital camera to capture events. I couldn't afford a nice camera, but then my sweet husband gave me a nice cannon DSLR camera that I love! Since then I have taken classes and experimented with my camera and have learned how to get my vision I see to be captured on my camera. I love to take pictures of moments, being a mom I know how fast they grow (especially that first year) and having pictures help me look back at those cherished moments I had with my sweet little baby. So much history can be recored in pictures taken throughout a lifetime. I love working with (kind) people and seeing how no matter how different we are we still love those close to us the same.

Last week I had the pleasure of taking some photos of my friend and her cute little boy. He loved to stop and listen to any sound he heard, trying to figure out the source (and on a farm he heard LOTS of sounds) I had such a great time taking pictures!

Baxter Family

Fall is here! I love taking family pictures will all the changing leaves! My sister in law and her darling family of three took some pictures with all the beautiful fall colors! (you can also see some of their pictures here and here) They are so fun and are so in love with their little baby boy!

Daddy and Daughter

This awesome dad took his baby girl out to feed some ducks! She LOVED it. I'm glad my handsome man could take her out because I have a serious phobia of all birds (no joke!) So I stood kept my distance.  Here are some cute moments from the outing.

Birthday Party on the farm!

My little cousin turned 3! They had the party over at a farm, it was so fun to walk around and see al the farm animals and buildings. She is such a sweet little girl and we had a great time!
